Consulate General of Italy (Vancouver)

The Verdi Festival is pleased to acknoledged the support of the Consulate General of Italy in Vancouver in collaboration with the Istituto Italiano di Cultura in Vancouver. As the cultural office of the Consulate General of Italy in Vancouver, the Istituto Italiano di Cultura (IIC), is part of a worldwide network of 90 Italian government offices established in all continents with a view to promoting Italian culture and civilization. Among their main tasks, the IICs organize cultural events, offer courses of Italian language and civilization, facilitate contacts between Italian and local researchers and scholars and cooperate with local cultural organizations and academic institutions.

Consulate General of Italy in Vancouver in collaboration with the Istituto Italiano di Cultura in VancouverOne of three such offices in Canada (along with Montreal and Toronto), the Istituto in Vancouver was established in 1980. Their main mandate is to make Italian culture known to the society at large in Western Canada (British Columbia, Alberta, Saskatchewan and the Yukon Territory) through the organization of artistic, cultural and academic events, the provision of courses of Italian language and civilization and the dissemination of information about Italy and its society.

The Consulate General of Italy in Vancouver in collaboration with the Istituto Italiano di Cultura in Vancouver, and the Alberta College Conservatory of Music MacEwan University is presenting a piano recital by Christiana Pegoraro titled "La Mia Italia" featuring works by Liszt, Rossini, Verdi, Piazzolla and Pegoraro herself. The concert is on Friday, June 7, 2013 at 7 pm at the Muttart Hall, 10050 MacDonald Drive, Edmonton at the Alberta College Conservatory. Admission is free.
