Italian ChoirThe Italian Folk Choir was founded in 1989 as the Abruzzi Folk Choir, and specializes in regional folk songs with members having northern and southern Italy ancestry. The Choir normally performs at community events and special functions including Christmas performances at hospitals and senior centres. The choir's director is Rosanna Verdicchio and the pianist Doug Laver. The Choir has a recording of Italian folk songs.

Ella ZenariElla Zenari is 16 years old and currently in Grade 11 at Ross Sheppard High School. She has been performing since she was four years old and sang the Italian National anthem "Fratelli d' Italia" at a function. She has sung with the choir at the Victoria School of the Arts, the Edmonton All Children Choir and the Cantilon Choir as well as appearing as a soloist. She has won awards including the 2011 Edmonton Kiwanis Music Festival Ella Wallbank Vocal Scholarship. Also in 2011, Zenari participated with the Cantilon Choir at the Llangollen Eisteddfod International Music Festival in Wales, where she performed "Stizzoso, mio stizzoso," a solo piece from the opera La Serva Padrona, by Pergolesi. Zenari studies voice with Kim Mattice Wanat, founder and technical director of Opera Nuova, and piano with Renna Hoang.

Nancy MarkNancy Mark began voice lessons in Ottawa under Thom Goudie, who studied with the French Baritone Gerard Souzay. Since then, she has sung for many years, both as a soloist in various churches and as a chorister in numerous choirs and musical groups, including Ottawa's Canadian Centennial Choir, ELOPE, Cantemus and, more recently, the Taylor Community Choir. Mark has also studied drama at the University of Alberta, and appeared in productions including Jean Anouilh's Antigone, and Romeo and Juliet (MFA directing project). She is currently a voice student of Denice Bennett at the Alberta College Conservatory of Music MacEwan University.

Sanja ZakanjiSanja Zakanji, soprano, has been a member of young artist programs in which she has successfully performed the roles of Illana in Baba Yaga (J. Fogarty), Clara Deluso in Signor Deluso (T. Pasatieri) and Cupidon in Orphee aux enfer (J. Offenbach). Zakanji has won countless vocal prizes at local music festivals such as the Edmonton Kiwanis Festival, St. Albert Rotary Music Festival and the Russian Arts Festival. She also holds BA and MA degrees from the University of Alberta where she majored in Spanish and French language and literature. Chosen as one of the 15 "exceptional" singers worldwide, Sanja will be performing at this year's Salzburg Voice Festival in June.
