Guest Speakers
The Edmonton Verdi Festival Committee is delighted to bring two Guest Speakers, who will be joining us for the 20 REGIONS OF ITALY EXTRAVAGANZA WEEKEND: VERDI THROUGH THE CENTURIES, November 1st, 2nd and 3rd, 2013. It is with great pleasure that we announce the presence of two very distinguished gentlemen who have graciously agreed to join our Verdi festivities: from Milan, Italy, the formidable Mr. Renato Garavaglia; and, from Chicago, United States of America, Professor Philip Gossett. They will be presenting on key aspects of Verdi's life and work as follows:
- Saturday, November 2nd, 10:00 - 11:30 am, at the Santa Maria Goretti Community Centre, Renato Garavaglia, esteemed Director of La Scala Theatre Museum from the world renowned Italian opera house of TEATRO ALLA SCALA, Milan, Italy, will present on "VERDI AND LA SCALA."
- Sunday, November 3rd, 2:30 - 4:00 pm, at the Santa Maria Goretti Community Centre, Professor Philip Gossett Musicologist and Historian, retired ROBERT W. RENEKER Professor and distinguished author: Universities of Chicago and La Sapienza, Rome, will present "VERDI AND THE RISORGIMENTO."
